Epiphone 1960 Hummingbird Reissue Acoustic/Electric Guitar - Heritage Cherry Sunburst
The Epiphone 1960 Hummingbird Reissue Acoustic Guitar – Heritage Cherry Sunburst delivers a stunningly authentic recreation of one of the world’s most famous flat-top acoustics. First introduced in 1960 as Gibson’s very first square-shoulder dreadnought, the Hummingbird quickly became a favourite of countless legendary artists including Keith Richards, Brian Jones, J Mascis, Thom Yorke, Joe Bonamassa, and many more. Known for its versatility, the Hummingbird responds beautifully whether you’re softly fingerpicking, strumming big open chords, or digging into melodic lines. Now, Epiphone and Gibson Custom bring this iconic first-year model back to life—with remarkable accuracy and modern reliability. Available now at Sky Music Australia.
This historic recreation features a thermally aged solid spruce top paired with solid mahogany back and sides, producing a warm, rich, balanced voice that suits virtually any musical style. Traditional scalloped X-bracing—crafted from quarter-sawn spruce—ensures authentic tonal response and projection. The one-piece thermally aged mahogany neck features a comfortable Rounded profile, while the bound Indian rosewood fingerboard showcases period-correct mother-of-pearl split parallelogram inlays.
Every detail of the original 1960 Hummingbird has been faithfully reproduced: multi-ply body binding, traditional belly-up rosewood bridge with bone saddle, classic engraved Hummingbird pickguard, and gold-plated Epiphone Deluxe tuners with green Keystone buttons. The headstock features the Gibson “open book” profile, an aged mother-of-pearl Epiphone logo and Gibson Crown inlay, plus the Inspired by Gibson Custom double-diamond logo on the back.
Modern players are fully supported thanks to the built-in L.R. Baggs Element Bronze VTC pickup system, delivering warm, natural amplified tone for stage and studio. A Red Line–inspired hardshell case is included to keep your Hummingbird safe wherever the music takes you.
